I have always been obsessed with narrative portraiture. I love how you look at a 600 year old painting of a woman and you feel like you know her, feel like she understands you or you could be her. For many years though I have been busy, making a life, making a living, not quite having the nerve to dive into that area of interest. I stuck with landscapes and travel photography which were safe. Recently, with life turned upside down with coronavirus I didn't want to be safe anymore and took a deep dive into narrative self portraits.

What was a quick project to get me through a lull in quarantine changed into a big project with ideas for different scenes flowing. Here is the very first one I took and it still may be my favorite.

Stuck in a Book is me as a woman who grew up on Belle, books, her thoughts and was so entranced by her book she can't even be bothered to leave her spot.
